About us

At Upfront Counseling Solutions, our work is our ministry. We believe true healing touches not just the mind, but the whole person — body, mind, and spirit.

Upfront Counseling Solutions was founded by Lindsay Heier, who holds a Bachelor's degree in Theology and a Master's degree in Clinical Counselling from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, where faith and clinical training grew side by side. That formation carried him into roles few counsellors experience: seven years as Dean of Student Life at Ave Maria University in Nicaragua, where he also taught psychology; a chaplaincy residency at Greenville Health System in South Carolina, walking with patients and families through trauma, crisis, and grief; continued training in Gottman Method couples therapy; and, currently, his third year of spiritual direction formation, also through Franciscan University.

We are growing. As we welcome new counsellors to the practice, each one is chosen not only for their clinical skill, but for a shared commitment to treating faith as a resource in healing rather than something left at the door. Whether you work with Lindsay or another member of our team, you can expect the same foundation: evidence-based clinical care, offered with room for your faith if and how you want it there.

For clients who share our Catholic or Christian faith — or who simply want their beliefs welcomed in the room — we integrate Scripture, prayer, and Church teaching into sessions when and how it's helpful to you. Faith is never forced; it's offered as one more resource on your path toward healing. We also work with clients who prefer a purely clinical approach — our goal is always to meet you where you are.
